In the spring term of 2010, Sign2Learn, together with Luton Borough Council, conducted a research study involving children from
6 Nursery and Reception classes. The 8-week study aimed to increase Story Language in young children through getting them involved
in signing along with key story telling words in 2 traditional tales.
Our main findings were:
The
findings of this study were used as a base for an ongoing research study into the effectiveness of Signing to increase the story wordbank
in children at risk of delay in Communication, Language and Literacy, particulary EAL.
Findings will be published in the Autumn and
we are proud to be presenting our project at the European Early Childhood Education Research Association (EECERA) in September.
